METEOROLOGY

Did you know, I’m Harvard certified in Meteorology?

I’ve always enjoyed spotting weather phenomena…

For as long as I can remember, I was predicting it would rain long before the weather app caught on. In early 2026, I decided it would be fun to learn a little bit deeper. Harvard offered an online course for Meteorology based solely on visuals and not fancy equipment. Since I wasn’t planning on becoming a meteorologist, nor did I have access to fancy weather equipment; this was perfect for me. It teaches you how to predict the weather without all of that, identify cloud topology and learn about weather phenomena. I love taking photos of the sky; and now I actually can tell you WHY it’s happening.

Supernumerary Triple Rainbow

This was a CRAZY find so let’s break it down. Also, let it be known that the contrast on this photo is highly edited. I wanted to make sure you could see what I was able to see in person. This is my only edited photo on here.

A supernumerary rainbow is a standard rainbow that somehow continues on after violet. Rainbows are easy to explain; it’s just light refractions.

But it’s also a double rainbow. Did you know that the secondary rainbow is reverse order? Look close.

Now the third rainbow; that’s a real thing but it’s not actually where you’d think. A third rainbow actually shares a starting point with the primary rainbow and has a different degree of arc.

This is something I’ll probably never get to see again but I was watching the sun peak through the clouds after some rain and I kept saying “a rainbow’s coming” and it took about 20 minutes; but sure enough here it was. I was dancing around my apartment with my camera like a crazy woman distrusting family dinner.
